- How Goodbudget exports your history was not part of what we checked, so there are no export steps here. If you have your Goodbudget transactions as a CSV, the rows below say what Outlayr does with it.
- The file
- Goodbudget shows no currency symbols, so add a Currency column with codes like USD or MXN if you track more than one. Rows without one land in your main currency.goodbudget.com
- Into Outlayr
- Import it in Settings, under Import data, as a CSV file. Outlayr needs a date, an amount, and a category or description column, with commas between columns, so save a file with semicolons or tabs as a comma CSV first. It finds the category by a header that says Category. If your envelope names sit under another header, rename it to Category. Amounts come in positive, so add a Type column with Expense or Income if your file mixes both.
- Doesn't come across
- Accounts and envelope amounts. Set your limits again on Budgets, and turn on carry-over to keep what you do not spend.

Is Outlayr a good Goodbudget alternative?
It is if you spend in more than one currency, want all your history on the free plan, or would rather say or scan a purchase than fill in a form. Goodbudget fits better if you budget with envelopes, need a web app today, or want US bank accounts to sync in Premium.
Does Outlayr have envelopes?
Not by that name. You set a limit per category, or one for the month, for a day, a week, a month, or a year. Turn on carry-over and what you do not spend is added to the next period, much like cash left in an envelope, and what you overspend comes off the next one.
Does Outlayr show currencies?
Yes. Each purchase keeps its currency, from 165, and totals convert to your main currency at the rate from the day of each purchase. Goodbudget shows no currency symbols in the app or on the web.
How much does Outlayr cost?
The tracker is free, with budgets, goals, subscriptions, and widgets. The free plan includes 20 voice or receipt captures every 30 days, 2 accounts, 2 category budgets, and accounts in one currency.
